After your water for your steam is prepared, the herbs are placed in the water and you sit on your steaming stool or sizts bath seat, that is when the magic begins. The steam carries the oils from the herb and penetrates the vaginal canal, its walls, and the uterus.

Women who have a metal IUD should NOT steam. Some women who have plastic IUD still steam; however, Saphe is NOT advocating for steaming with any IUD. If you choose to steam with a plastic IUD please consult a doctor first that decision is solely up to the woman.

We are aware that some adolescents start their cycle at very young ages. We do not recommend young girls to steam; For example, some girls start their cycles as young as 8-12 years old. We highly recommend that all parents speak to their young girls and teens about steaming and its benefits. We do not encourage children this young to purchase our items. If teenage girls wish to steam that is subjective to each household and is the parents' responsibility to choose when to allow their teen to steam.

If I can not steam are there any other options?

With Saphe we always have options. If you are a woman who can not steam we hand create our teas which taste delicious. They help with the same issues as the yoni steam, except you ingest them. The tea is awesome because it goes right into your bloodstream and gives you the same benefits as the steam. The description of each tea and what it does for you is listed on the site by each tea.

What if there is no steam or tea here for me?

No worries, as we said before Saphe creates options. If you do not see any teas or steams that suit you, we do personal customized blends for an additional fee.

How often should I steam?

If you're just steaming for the overall wellness of your vagina we recommend steaming twice a month. One week before your cycle and one week after.

Women who are in postpartum after giving birth should steam four times a month to promote healing, toning, and tightening as long as there is no more bleeding and no open wounds.

Are there side effects to steaming?

Steaming is not FDA approved, however, it has been around for many years. Steaming is safe for the most part; just keep in mind only steam at a temperature you can withstand. Every woman is different therefore every woman can tolerate heat at a different setting. If you're someone who has to boil your water for your steam PLEASE be aware of the heat. You may have to allow it to sit to cool before steaming. If you steam and it’s too hot you may experience heavy bleeding during your next cycle. This is an indicator to turn down your steaming stool or allow the steam to cool because your initial steam was too hot for your body. You also may want to reduce your steaming time.

If you get a headache while steaming that means you are dehydrated, you need to drink plenty of fluids just like you would if you went into a sauna.

What to expect after steaming?

After steaming there is a possibility you will start your period earlier than expected, do not be alarmed!

During and after you may have the sensation to urinate a lot which is normal go to the restroom and release it.

Some women experience discharge after the steaming process. DO NOT WORRY. The increased discharge is a sign that the steam is working and cleaning you out, pulling out mucus and bacteria.

Slight cramping may occur for some women (this is rare) however, this is ok this means that the steam has loosened up old residue and the uterus is contracting to help rid your body of it.

As steaming becomes a consistent part of your life these above side effects will dissipate, because your body will have rid of unwanted toxins in your womb. Women have reported their periods even shortening thereafter and as women, we all know that's a blessing (haha).
